Sr. Director of Development, College of Business

Duties:

The primary/essential job duty of the Senior Director of Development is to build relationships with the University's various constituents for the purpose of raising private gifts; identifies, cultivates, and solicits prospects and closes private, major gifts on behalf of the college and University to advance the college and University's mission and goals; and supervises other college fundraisers and staff. Manages 2 professional level development officers. This position has a joint reporting relationship to both the Associate VP for Constituent Development and the Dean of the College of Business.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):

Bachelor's Degree and seven (7) years of experience in development or related; must have budgetary management and supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree. 10 years of development experience with preference given to donor gifts raised through major gift fundraising along with prior management and leadership experience. Major gift fundraising experience for an institution of higher education preferred, such as for a college of business or similar professional school. Proven mentoring and strategic development planning experience also desired.

Special Skills/Licenses/Training/Certifications Necessary:

Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills; effective and accurate written communication skills for preparing personal letters to donors, contact reports and proposals; strong social skills; detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a development team in a large university. Must possess knowledge and understanding of the principles of fundraising and the significant role of the fundraising unit within a major research univeristy. CFRE preferred but not required. Experience successfully managing and producing in a dual-reporting relationship.
